Producers of the popular educational children's television series Reading Rainbow have launched an exciting feature: Reading Rainbow Live. This new feature follows the series's reboot, which ran from July 1983 until its cancellation in November 2006. The live program, which launched on the streaming platform Looped, features a group of 20 somethings dubbed The Rainbows, who serve as the show hosts. On why the show is streaming, Amy Gugliemo, the show's creative director, says it provides an opportunity for young viewers to interact with the cast, unlike its former broadcast setting. In addition, Nancy Hammond, the vice president of the show's production company Buffalo Toronto Public Media, says it allows kids to watch the program on their mobile devices since they usually don't sit down to watch TV at an appointed time. Reading Rainbow Live premiered at 12:30 pm on March 6, 2022.
